Responsibility Towards Himalayas
Staying in a pristine and untouched place like Kaza comes with a special responsibility — to preserve the natural beauty of the great Himalayas. The breathtaking landscapes, clean air, and peaceful surroundings are treasures that must be protected for future generations. At The Alpinist Cafe and Retreat, we believe that true travel should leave no harm behind, only memories of joy and respect for nature.
Taking this responsibility to heart, Mr. Sidhu, the founder, has introduced several eco-friendly practices to ensure sustainable living in this delicate environment. Instead of traditional charcoal, the retreat uses a gas-based barbecue, which prevents smoke and air pollution. To reduce dependence on electricity, solar heaters are installed to provide hot water using clean, renewable energy.
Waste management is also given top priority. All waste is carefully segregated — recyclable materials are separated for reuse, while biodegradable waste is decomposed naturally to enrich the soil. These small yet meaningful steps reflect a deep respect for nature and the community.
At The Alpinist, we invite every guest to become a part of this mission — to enjoy the Himalayas responsibly and help keep Spiti Valley as pure and peaceful as it has always been.
